Ok! So your resume did its job and got you the interview. Congratulations!
Yes, interviews are stressful but you can do some things to make it easier for you.
Here are 7 powerful job interview tips to help you get that dream teaching job. Always remember that since you are slated for an interview, it means you have been shortlisted among the hundreds or even thousands of applicants. That by itself is an achievement, so give yourself some props.
According to Richard Wiseman, author of 59 Seconds: Think a Little, Change a Lot, backed with research from different studies, being likeable is a crucial key to succeeding in the interview.
So how do you become likeable? Here are 7 powerful interview ways to increase your likeability factor.
1. Smile
Be happy you are in the interview. Yes, you might be nervous, but it’s an opportunity to shine. Start showing those pearly whites but make sure your smile is authentic or it will lose its appeal.
2. Show Interest
Be interested. This means the following things:
- You have prepared beforehand and know a lot about the school or university you are applying to.
- You know what the teaching role entails. You are ready for a teaching demo.
- You are positive. You will not bring up negative things about previous jobs and former bosses and colleagues.

It also helps that you really listen to their suggestions, especially after the teaching interview and demo. This will give them the idea that you are receptive, open-minded and ready to learn new things as educators also need to learn a lot from other teachers/ facilitators.
